SpermBlue stain has been developed to stain all the components of the sperm (acrosome, head, midpiece and main piece of tail) differentially in different intensities of blue. SpermBlue can be used for all species. The staining procedure is very simple and only involves two main steps, fixing/staining in one medium (less than a minute) and dipping in water for three to six seconds.
The new improved formula is extremely simple, only involves one step, as fixation and staining are done at the same time. It works equally well for smears of “raw” semen as well as sperm prepped by our Sil-Select gradients.

All Sperm Blue packages contain one 250ml bottle of combined fixative and stain, sufficient to stain approximately 500 smears on slides.
It is recommended that the staining of smears is performed in standardised containers, e.g. plastic/glass Coplin jars.
Storage
If SpermBlue is stored at 4°C it will last for at least one year or longer. Room temperature storage (20-25°C) is not guaranteed but will usually last for a year. Take note of the expiry date on packaging.
